St Lucia had experienced severe water restrictions earlier in the year however since August the area has surpassed the normal rainfall. Once again the Turtle sightings sighted from Cape Vidal, Kosi Bay and Sodwana Bay where good with good sightings of Logger Head and Leatherback’s. This unusual yearly occurance starts in Mid November until the end of March with the Hatchlings.

As summer approaches and new migrations occur Whale Sharks now will become predominant in the Northern section of the Isimangaliso Wetlands Park, migrating southwards from Mocambique. These graceful animals are frequently seen by fisherman in the area.

Fishing deep sea from St Lucia South Africa up towards Sodwana offer one the opportunity to back game fish, species include Cuda, Natal snoek, dorado, yellow fin tuna, marlin ( catch & release), sail fish ( catch & release) and other species. Please note that you go deep sea fishing off Cape Vidal that no bottom fishing is permitted and only game fish are allowed to be caught. Please ensure that at all times all fisherman have all the needed permits to catch fish of Natal waters.
